What Does Success Mean to You?

What does success mean to you now?

For a long time, success can feel very easy to measure.

Qualifications. Promotions. House. Salary. Job title. The things other people can see and congratulate you for.

Then life changes, and sometimes the scoreboard changes with it.

These days I find myself less interested in asking, ‘What have I achieved?’ and more interested in asking, ‘Who am I becoming?’

Success for me looks increasingly like having the health to walk, the strength to carry my shopping, good relationships, useful work, laughter, curiosity and the freedom to spend more time on things that matter.

Your list may be completely different.

That is the point.

Try this simple exercise.

Write two headings:

What I was taught success looks like

and

What success means to me now

Notice what changes.

Then look at your ordinary week. Do your habits make room for the things on your second list?

Success does not have to be a destination waiting in the future.

The way we spend our time is part of how we define success. It should reflect the life we actually want to live.

It can be the way you choose to live an ordinary Tuesday.
