You do not need to apologise for having feelings
How often have you heard yourself say:
‘Sorry, I’m emotional.’
‘Sorry, I’m crying.’
‘I shouldn’t feel like this.’
Feelings are part of being human, yet many of us have learned to treat them as though they are an inconvenience.
I am trying to do something different: notice them rather than immediately judge them.
Instead of ‘I feel awful’, try getting more specific.
Am I disappointed? Lonely? Frustrated? Worried? Angry? Sad? Relieved?

When feelings arrive alongside a racing mind, some of the gentle ideas in how to calm your mind may also be useful.
‘I’m having a feeling, and I’m giving myself a moment.’
