Is an old story keeping you stuck?
Thoughts are not the same thing as facts.
Self limiting beliefs can sound like facts when we have repeated the same sentence about ourselves for long enough.
But repeat a thought often enough and it can start to sound like identity.
‘I’m not fit anymore.’
‘I never stick to anything.’
‘I’m too old to start.’
Those sentences can quietly influence what we do next.
This is where self-limiting beliefs become interesting.
Not because positive thinking magically fixes life. It doesn’t.
Because noticing the story gives you a chance to respond to it more accurately.
Instead of:
‘I’m lazy.’
Try:
‘What is affecting my energy today?’
Instead of:
‘I always give up.’
Try:
‘What usually gets in the way of consistency for me?’
Instead of:
‘I’m not sporty.’
Try:
‘I haven’t yet found a way of moving that I enjoy enough to repeat.’
That is not fake positivity.
It is leaving the door open.
A useful practice is to notice one sentence you repeat about yourself and ask:
Is it completely true?
Is it helpful?
What would a more accurate version sound like?
Identity is not built only in our thoughts. It is also built through what we repeatedly do.
A short walk, one small strength session or one kept promise can become evidence for a different story.
You are not starting from nothing.
This is closely connected to questioning old beliefs that no longer fit and building self trust through small actions you can actually repeat.
You are starting from everything you have already lived and learned.
