Why an imaginary dog?
You don’t need to own a dog to have a reason to get outside and walk.
My imaginary dog, Teddy, started as a simple idea: what if I had something that gave me a reason to get out for a walk every day?
I’ve always enjoyed exercise, but I know not everyone does. Walking is different. It doesn’t need a gym membership, complicated equipment or hours of your day. You can simply put your shoes on, step outside and start.
For me, walking is also thinking time. It’s a chance to get outside, notice the seasons, clear my head and work through whatever is rattling around in there. And on the days when motivation is lacking, even a short walk can be enough to get me moving again.
That’s really what Teddy is about. Small, consistent steps that add up over time.
If my imaginary dog encourages someone else to step outside when they otherwise wouldn’t have done, then Teddy has done his job.
